A splash of colour at Green Island

Week 16; 18 April 2017 - Sharq Harbour and Green Island

I switched my approach and today made a stop at Sharq Harbour on the way home, as sunrise is getting later in the day and therefore more daylight hours to get in a spot of birding.

Unfortunately, the afternoon is not the best time of day at Sharq as the sun is pretty much in your face. A few Lesser Crested Terns were patrolling around the harbour

And a Common House Martin was seen overhead

A little further down Gulf Road was Green Island and a quick walk around produced a good variety of passerine migrants, starting with a Blue-cheeked Bee-eater just after the entrance gate

I disturbed a Eurasian Wryneck foraging for ants on one of the pathways

A European Turtle Dove was seen amongst a few European Collared Dove's

A couple of Tree Pipit's were seen foraging on the lawns

However, the highlight was a male Rufous-tailed Rock Thrush

Followed by a White-throated Robin
