A trickle of spring migrants

Week 10; 06 March 2020 - Jahra Pools Reserve

I was able to spend the last few hours of the day at Jahra Pools Reserve, although diversity and abundance was lower than reported the previous day.

A Great Cormorant along the road seemed quite obliging, but I suspect it wasn't well

Caspian Stonechat are literally everywhere

In the desert area I had a single Great Grey Shrike

and on the way to one of the smaller pools, one of the many Daurian Shrike

The setting sun was behind me, so I spent the rest of the afternoon chilling quietly at one of the pools, photographing Common Snipe

When the sun was nearing the horizon, I headed back to the gate, stopping to get the Black-headed Gull's returning to roost with the setting sun as a backdrop
