Neil Tovey and I managed to spend a few hours at JPR in the late afternoon, to escape some of the mid-day heat (although we did have some humidity) and to check for the arrival of any new autumn migrants.
Most birds recorded were residents and we managed a total of 65 species in just a few hours. One migrant that had arrived was a Common Cuckoo, but it was still pretty skittish

We also had a single Pied Avocet

Some Whiskered Terns

And many Squacco Herons which are now resident all year round, but are supplemented with migrating birds too.
